Army thwarts smuggling attempt

AMMAN — A military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Monday that the Eastern Military Region thwarted an infiltration attempt from Syria into Jordan.اضافة اعلان

The source said that the rules of engagement were applied, which led to the injury of a Border Guard officer. The officer was evacuated to the King Hussein Medical Center and is in stable condition. One of the infiltrators was killed and the rest retreated back into Syrian territory.

The source added that, following an inspection of the area, large quantities of hashish and other narcotics were seized. The seized contraband was transferred to the competent authorities.

The source underlined that the JAF will deal firmly and decisively with any infiltration or smuggling attempts, protect the borders, and thwart any who would tamper with Jordan’s national security.
