AMMAN — Border Guard troops of the Eastern
Military Zone, in coordination with security services and the Anti-Narcotics
Department, foiled an attempt at dawn Tuesday by a group of smugglers to breach
the Kingdom’s border from Syria, the General Command of the
Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said.

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra,
the JAF said the smugglers were forced back into Syrian territory after
suffering a number of injuries.
A search of the area uncovered about 2 million narcotic
pills and 200 palm-size sheets of hashish, it said.
