Similar to Jordan, in Austria tourism is a very important sector for the economy. Nearly 10 percent of Austria’s inhabitants work in tourism, directly or indirectly. And there is hardly any country in the world matching Austria in terms of tourism income. Each year the World Economic Forum creates the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index. Out of 140 countries, in 2019 Austria was rated 11th. In terms of its tourist service infrastructure, Austria was even ranked number one globally in 2017.
The visiting delegation to Jordan included Art Pro Business Development, Asteas Technologies, Doppelmayr, HAM independent hospitality & tourism advisors, PANOMAX and Trumer Schutzbauten, whose expertise ranges from business development and consultancy services, geohazard mitigation and ropeway construction to software and technology solutions – all for the tourism sector!
Along their Jordanian round-trip covering Aqaba, Petra, Amman and Madaba, the Austrian business delegation met with local counterparts from the business and political communities to share their knowledge and solutions, learn about needs and opportunities and to discuss possible partnerships.
The world-renowned ropeway solutions of Doppelmayr are currently being implemented in Jordan's major tourism infrastructure project in the framework of the JFDZ – Ajloun Cable Car project. This project will make a crucial contribution to developing local and international tourism in the Ajloun region, creating job and business opportunities for the local community, and demonstrating the vast potential for Jordanian-Austrian cooperation in tourism infrastructure projects.
On 18 May, the Austrian ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Oskar Wüstinger, and the Austrian commercial counselor, Mag.
