An agreement has
been signed by Ayla’s Managing Director Sahl Dudin, and the President of the
JTA Tareq Al-Khayyat.
Ayla hosted the
triathlon four times in the past, most recently in 2019. At that event, there
was a high level of participation from local, regional, and international
athletes, specifically 90 athletes representing 34 Arab, Asian, and
International countries and 110 athletes from Jordan.
Dudin expressed
delight in collaborating with the JTA to host the fourth edition of the 2022
ASTC Asian Triathlon Cup, following a two-year hiatus due to the Coronavirus
pandemic.
“Hosting this
tournament demonstrates Ayla’s commitment to sports in all their forms, as well
as the company’s ongoing efforts to promote Aqaba and strengthen Jordan’s
tourism and sports position on a regional and international scale,” he said.
Dudin noted that
Ayla’s hosting of major golf, running, and swimming sports tournaments is the
best evidence of the company’s ability to provide the necessary safe
infrastructure for these types of quality sports on Ayla’s premises, in
addition to its ability to provide hotel rooms for athletes participating in
these tournaments and other tourists.
Khayyat commended
Ayla’s ongoing assistance to promote Aqaba and Jordan as a well-equipped sports
and other tourist destination.
Khayyat said that
Ayla’s organizational and logistical capabilities helped increase the number of
participating countries at the Arab, regional, and international levels, as
well as attract distinguished players from around the world to participate in
the tournament.
He emphasized that
organizing similar tournaments allow Jordanian players to gain experience from
professional players.
A triathlon is a
multi-stage, marathon-style race that begins with swimming, then cycling, and
finally running. The fastest in the final time of the competition, including
transition times between swimming, cycling, and running, wins the race. A
designated area for athletes to change their equipment for each race is
included in the triathlon.
