In a statement Sunday, the university said the
student team from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and the Faculty of
Engineering Technology won two prizes in the first national competition for
sumo robotics, which was held at
Al Hussein Technical University with the
participation of more than 95 teams from various Jordanian universities,
schools and institutes.
The team, under the supervision of Hamza Al-Dabbas
and Aws Al-Qaisi, won the Creativity Award among 95 teams and the third place
award for best robot design.
Al-Balqa University President Ahmad Al-Ajlouni
praised the competition’s supervisors and students. He stressed that his
institution provided all possible support for the participation of the students
in the “important national event”.
Ajlouni said the event focused on creative and
innovative ideas and the employment of artificial intelligence technology and
modern software in scientific projects applied on the ground, which would
provide economic and investment opportunities in the manufacture of robots.
He added that artificial intelligence is involved in all
aspects of scientific and practical life, which contributes to placing the name
of the university and Jordan among the countries that produce and manufacture
smart robotic technology.
