This agreement aims to bolster collaboration and information sharing between the two entities, ultimately enhancing the business climate in the Kingdom and providing essential legal support to companies.

According to a statement released Monday by the ACC, the memorandum specifically addresses financial obligations faced by commercial members who have not retained lawyers registered with the Bar Association, as mandated by Article 43 of the Bar Association Law.

It also seeks to establish clear guidelines for compliance, detailing the legal services lawyers provide and exploring ways to expand these offerings.

Bar Association President Yahya Abu Aboud and Chamber President Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq formalized the agreement.

One of the key initiatives outlined in the memorandum is the organization of joint workshops to educate businesses about the legal services available to them and to promote the importance of engaging legal counsel.

Moreover, the memorandum includes an immediate commitment to adhere to the stipulations of Article 43 of the Bar Association Law. It offers companies a significant 60% discount on outstanding debts accrued before the signing date, allowing the remaining 40% to be paid in two installments over two years, thus easing their financial burden.

Companies are encouraged to take advantage of this agreement by submitting a request for resolution by February 28, 2025. Should any company fail to comply, all outstanding amounts will become immediately due.

Al-Haj Tawfiq highlighted the essential role of the Bar Association in protecting citizens’ rights and upholding justice. He expressed the chamber’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with legal professionals and emphasized that this memorandum aims to create solutions that benefit all parties involved.

By providing financial relief and facilitating legal support, the agreement seeks to help businesses navigate challenges and foster a favorable environment for economic growth.

Abu Aboud echoed these sentiments, affirming the commitment of both parties to fostering cooperation and creating a supportive legal framework for economic development in Jordan.

He stressed the importance of legal advisors in helping companies avoid regulatory pitfalls and ensuring adherence to the law.

Both the Bar Association and the Amman Chamber of Commerce leadership emphasized the necessity of encouraging businesses to retain legal counsel and to disseminate information about the benefits of the memorandum throughout the commercial sector, ensuring that they can take full advantage of the offered discounts.
