Media Spokesperson for the National Center
for Security and Crises Management Ahmed Al-Nuaimi said that 13 percent of the
recipients of the first, second and third doses were infected, but did not show
serious symptoms, adding that the vaccine will not prevent infection entirely,
but will reduce the rate of hospitalization.
Global readings of the numbers of infected
and dead in the first, second, and third waves show that the second wave had
the highest death rate, due to the lack of vaccines, said Nuaimi, adding that
the Omicron and Delta variant affect children and young people.
The
Ministry of Health announced on Monday
that 17 deaths and 2,789 new infections were recorded in the Kingdom, bringing
the total number of deaths to 12,893 and that of infections to 10, 82570, while
the percentage of positivity reached 6.90 percent.
There are 27,678 active cases, 94 cases have
been admitted to hospitals, and 666 cases are receiving treatment.
