According to the organization's statement, the
decision to close was made as part of building its new strategic vision and
work in the Kingdom, as well as a change toward supporting local partnerships
and capabilities in its next stage agenda, Khaberni reported.
The organization stated that it will intensify
its collaboration with internal and foreign partners and assure the provision
of services directly to participants in programs that it executes through other
channels.
The director of the organization's office in
Jordan expressed his desire to broaden the scope of work and access of the
organization to the targeted groups of
Jordanians and refugees living in
poverty pockets throughout the Kingdom, emphasizing that the organization will
continue to use its capabilities and technical expertise in transformative
gender programs to support and collaborate with local partners.
The organization confirmed that it will
gradually stop providing some of its direct services in the Kingdom while
continuing with its partners to provide protection services during the current
year, indicating that it will work in partnership with the
Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and the
Institute for Family Health (IFH) to
build case management services and psychological support, enhance and develop
them, and expand its network of partners as part of its efforts to support local
competencies.
It is worth noting that since 2013, the
organization's community centers in the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq,
Zarqa, and Amman have served approximately 500,000 Jordanians as well as Syrian and
Iraqi refugees, providing vital protection services such as psychological
support and cash assistance totaling more than $48 million.
