AMMAN — The
Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) on
Thursday raised the credit ceiling for wholesale importers of basic commodities
from JD600,000 to JD 1 million, in agreement with the Ministtry of Industry,
Trade, and Supply, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

The bank also decided to start a program to support
small and medium-sized enterprises valued at JD700 million as well as maintain
interest rates for borrowers at 2 percent for a 54-month period, including a
grace period of a year.
There are currently 5,871 projects financed by the CBJ
at the value of JD521.7 million, and the program has protected some 94,000 jobs
from being lost since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
