Positivity rate stands at 6.5%

AMMAN — Jordan recorded 3,171 new COVID-19 cases and 28 virus-related deaths in the week of March 19-25, bringing the total death toll to 14,031 and the total number of cases to date to 1,692,485, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. This represents a 65 percent decrease in cases and a 36 percent decrease in deaths compared to the preceding week. According to the Ministry of Health, 48,944 PCR tests were conducted of which 6.48 percent were positive; 35 percent fewer tests than the preceding week and a 5.6 percentage point reduction in positivity rate. There are 2,175 active cases of COVID-19, with 211 patients admitted into hospitals and 266 patients discharged over the past week. There are currently 183 people hospitalized with the virus, according to Petra. A total of 6,081 people recovered from COVID this week, the ministry said. The ministry said that 4,730,727 have received a first dose of COVID vaccines, and 4,438,091 have received two doses.
