COVID-19 infections drop by 36% — Balbisi

AMMAN — Adviser to the Prime Minister for Health Affairs Dr Adel Al-Balbisi, who is responsible for the COVID-19 dossier, said that 25,502 cases were recorded in the period of March 5–11, a 36-percent decrease compared to the preceding week.اضافة اعلان

Balbisi said that 77 deaths were recorded in the same period, a 21-percent decrease compared to the preceding week, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The positivity rate in the March 5–11 period stood at 22 percent compared to 20.4 percent the week before, and 115,826 tests were conducted, he said.

Amman recorded 11,087 cases, Zarqa recorded 2,090 cases, Irbid registered 3,275 cases, Balqa 2,087 cases, Karak recorded 1,536 cases, Jerash recorded 699 cases, and Tafileh recorded 729 cases. Madaba registered 1,005 cases, Aqaba 524, Ramtha 427, and Ajloun 614 according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry said in a statement that 623 hospitalized COVID-19 patients had recovered and were discharged from hospitals, while 536 new patients were admitted.
