The Cabinet, during its session on Tuesday chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, approved the justifications for the draft law amending the Law on the Formation of Judicial Courts for the year 2025. This step is in preparation for sending the draft law to the Department of Legislation and Opinion for the completion of its issuance procedures according to the proper legal channels.

The proposed amendment aligns with the strategic plan for the justice sector for the years 2022-2026 and the executive program approved by its steering committee. The amendment aims to expand the jurisdiction of the economic chamber, including cases related to economic disputes that fall under the jurisdiction of all first-instance courts, instead of limiting it to cases handled only by the first-instance courts in the capital governorate. This change reflects the goals and policies set out in the strategy to improve the justice system in commercial transactions.
