AMMAN — The Cabinet approved the Jordanian strategy
for
artificial intelligence (AI) for the years 2023-2027, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.

It said Sunday’s
approval is in implementation of the Jordanian policy for AI 2020, which
includes developing a general strategic framework to activate AI in all
priority sectors in the Kingdom.
The strategy
aims to come up with a roadmap, with a specific timeframe, that helps build the
supportive system for AI in Jordan, and focuses on adopting AI to develop the
public and economic sectors, while ensuring that all ministries and government
institutions implement it.
The Jordanian
strategy for AI and its executive plan 2023–2027 is an extension of previous
strategies and policies that regulate digital transformation and digital
technology, and thus keep pace with global AI trends.
The strategy
aims to make Jordan a regional leader in the field of AI, and to provide a
unique and attractive technological and pioneering environment for AI, so that
it can be an effective, supportive, and essential component of the national
economy.
The strategy
seeks to build and develop Jordanian capabilities, skills and expertise, and
encourage scientific research and development in the AI field, as well as
boosting the investment and entrepreneurship environment in this field,
ensuring the legislative and regulatory environment that supports the safe use
of AI, and using its tools to raise the efficiency of the public sector and
other priority sectors.
