The bylaw aims to enhance consular services provided outside
the Kingdom, keep pace with developments in the consular work, consolidate best
practices within the framework governing this aspect, and address some deficiencies
that surfaced during the implementation of the previous regulations.
Under the bylaw, mechanisms and procedures are identified to
establish the consulate, regulate all related matters, consolidate standards of
competence and merit in appointing honorary consuls, define conditions and
procedures for their appointment, their rights, duties, powers, and privileges,
as well as ensuring best performance during their tenures.
In the same session, the Cabinet named Bassam Fadel Sarhan
and Nayel Khaled Adwan as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the
Jordan Telecommunications Regulatory Commission’s board of commissioners.
