AMMAN — The Cabinet endorsed a draft law
amending the
Civil Status Law for 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra,
reported.

The endorsement came at a Cabinet session on Sunday,
headed by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh.
The draft law addresses loopholes in the law. No
other details were immediately available.
The Cabinet also approved an amended bylaw of the
administrative organization system for the
Independent Election Commission (IEC) for 2022. The bylaw aims to enable IEC create new organizational units,
in light of the recent constitutional amendments related to women empowerment,
and establish an organizational unit to manage projects and follow up on IEC’s
international relations as part of its tasks and powers.
The bylaw also promotes women’s political participation,
and encourages their engagement in public life.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom’s
support for the UNICEF Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action, which
was recently launched within the activities of the 27th Conference of the
Parties to Climate Change in Egypt.
The Cabinet also approved recommendations of the
settlement and reconciliation committee to settle pending tax status of 542
companies and taxpayers with due financial obligations, in accordance with
provisions of the Income Tax Law, and the General Sales Tax Law.
The Council of Ministers also endorsed
recommendations to settle outstanding claims between 21 taxpayers and, or
violators, and the Jordan Customs Department. It said the violators must pay
the full due amounts with any fees, taxes or expenses incurred within a two
month-period from the date of the Cabinet’s decision.
On a separate matter, the Cabinet appointed Zaid
Mohammad Hussein Al-Nawaisah as secretary-general of the Ministry of Government
Communications.
