The decision also included a mechanism that enables the tax department to deactivate tax numbers assigned to companies for import purposes in the absence of actual practice of economic activity.

The department indicated that the content of the decision relates to the legal provisions required of companies or institutions for the purposes of obtaining the importer card. Companies which do not have an official license and do not conduct economic activity, will not be able to import as the department will continue to deactivate these companies’ tax numbers.

The decision aims to facilitate economic activity, contribute to reducing production and operational costs, and reduce commodity prices for consumers while maintaining the necessary controls to ensure real import from companies which actually practice industrial and commercial activity and fulfill their tax obligations in accordance with the applicable legislation.
