AMMAN — In a recent Cabinet session
held on Sunday and presided over by
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, it was
decided that June 27 of each year would be officially designated as
"Jordanian Antiquities Day."

This move is in celebration of the
centenary of the Emiri Decree which established the
Department of Public Antiquities on June 27, 1923.
Free entrance to archaeological
sites, museumsAs part of the commemoration,
Jordanian visitors will be granted free entrance to archaeological sites and
museums on this day.
Additionally, the day will also
feature awareness and educational campaigns to promote the preservation of
Jordan's cultural heritage.
Finally, the day will also see the
launch of various site-cleaning initiatives aimed at maintaining the
cleanliness of archaeological and tourist sites in all
governorates of the Kingdom.
