AMMAN — The Cabinet has recently approved several draft laws
for the year 2023, including amendments to the Civil Procedure Code and the
Sharia Trial Procedures Law to streamline litigation procedures and introduce
online applications, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Cabinet approved a draft law amending the Sharia Trial
Procedures Law for 2023. Under this law, parties to a case would be able to
litigate without attending Sharia courts in person.
This amendment will enable Sharia courts, the Sharia Public
Prosecution, and offices of reform, mediation and family reconciliation to
document and enter data electronically.
The Cabinet has also approved a draft law amending the law
for the formation of Sharia courts for 2023. This amendment goes in tandem with
constitutional reforms that include special provisions for appointing the
president of the Sharia Supreme Court and regulating judicial inspection.
Promoting disability inclusionThe Cabinet has approved the De-Institutionalization for
Persons with Intellectual Disabilities law for 2023. This law aims to promote
the inclusion of persons with disabilities in their communities and encourage
independent living for disabled people.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved an amended law for the
provisions of the basic regulations of societies for 2023. The amendments
ensure that societies abide by the conditions and procedures for collecting
donations.
The Council also approved an amended bylaw for the National
Center for Curriculum Development for 2023. Under this law, the chairman of the
Higher Council of the National Centre for Curriculum Development would be
granted the authority to supervise the center’s work.
Addressing entitlement casesFinally, the Cabinet approved an amendment to the Social
Security Fund bylaw for workers in the Ministry of Education for 2023.
This amendment will address cases of entitlement to the
end-of-service reward in the event of resignation.
