AMMAN —
King Hussein Cance rCenter (KHCC) Director-General Asem Mansour said that cancer patient treatment
in Jordan costs, on average, JD30,000 per year, with 60 percent of the total
amount going to medicine and other medical supplies.

Some medicine, he added, can cost up to JD100,000 and, in
some cases, JD200,000.
The cost of treatment varies depending on the type and
stage, he added. It also increases annually by 6 percent globally, he said.
Concerted efforts and strategies are needed to continue
treatment processes, he said.
In 2022, the KHCC treated 6,800 cancer patients; 6,100 of
which were treated at the center, while 700 were treated at the Samih Darwazah
Cancer Center at Al-Bashir Hospital, which
KHCC supervises, a local media
outlet reported.
Cancer recovery rates in cases of early detection, he said,
stand at 90 percent, which is in line with global rates. He added that the rate
can vary depending on the type of cancer.
When it comes to late detection, Mansour said that the focus
shifts to
improving quality of life rather than treatment, especially if cancer
has spread to other parts of the body.
