AMMAN — Jordan could see as many as 70,000 COVID-19 cases next week, according to member of the National Epidemiology Committee Bassam Al-Hijjawi, Khaberni reported.
He attributed the rapid rise in cases to the Omicron variant.
“Last week, we reached 34,900 cases per week; we expect this week to reach 50,000 cases,” Hijjawi said, but added that the number of cases can be expected to decline afterward.
Hijjawi also called for increasing the number of students receiving the vaccine and for complying with wearing masks in classrooms.
