Celebratory gunfire is ‘disrespectful and haram’

AMMAN — The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom Abdul Karim Al-Khasawneh said on Tuesday that celebratory gunfire, at weddings, graduations, and on other occasions, is unacceptable and made many victims, according to Khaberni News. Khasawneh said that laws prohibit celebratory gunfire, adding that individuals who mark an occasion have the duty to prevent anyone from engaging in harmful behavior, and inform the security authorities if it happens. He said that celebratory gunfire is disrespectful and considered “haram” in Islam.
