AMMAN — The
Jordan Medical Association recommended reducing fees charged for certain medical procedures by about 30
percent, and submitted the recommendation to the pertinent authorities, according
to Al-Anbat News.

Association spokeswoman Dr. Maysam
Akroush said that about 38 specialized associations operating under JMA agree
with the recommendation, adding that the said medical procedures and the fees
charged for them must be made known by every specialized association.
She also said that there will be
regulations determining which procedures may be performed in clinics and which
in hospitals, in order to protect the citizens.
There are specialists who performed
procedures in clinics, instead of hospitals, in contravention of the law
governing the medical profession, and the latest recommendation is meant to
exercise some control on the way doctors operate, said Akroush.
At the same time, the minimum and
maximum doctor fees will be set in a manner that is fair to both doctors and
citizens.
