AMMAN — In a recent statement, Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi, President
of the
Jordan Medical Association (JMA) expressed the difficulty of determining
the number of doctors who will benefit from a new system that requires
institutions to hire medical and
healthcare professionals. Zoubi attributed this
challenge to the union's lack of knowledge regarding the number of factories
and institutions involved.

He emphasized that the preventive and
therapeutic healthcare system for workers in institutions should prioritize the presence of general
physicians rather than specialists, Addustour reported.
According to him, minimum salary for a
full-time generalphysician, is set at JD850.
A provision for a new system
On Thursday, published the preventive and therapeutic
healthcare system for workers in institutions, following the guidelines of
paragraph (b) of Article (85) of Labor Law No. 8 of 1996, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.
The provisions of this system apply not only to the
institutions themselves but also to any locations under their supervision,
where
workers are present for work purposes, and economic activities are
conducted, provided that the system's conditions are met.
According to the system, employers or responsible managers
are responsible for arranging periodic medical examinations to ensure the
ongoing health and fitness of workers. The goal is to detect any diseases in their
early stages. These arrangements should comply with the instructions issued by
the minister for this purpose, including the designated examination periods for
each profession.
A dedicated medical record for each employee
Employers are required to maintain a dedicated medical
record for each employee. This record should include the results of periodic
medical examinations conducted during the worker's employment, along with
information such as the worker's name, date of employment, nature of work,
results of the initial
medical examination (including the date), results of
periodic medical examinations, any present symptoms of illness, expected
occupational diseases, and the actions taken.
The implementation of this new healthcare system aims to
prioritize the well-being and health of workers in institutions, ensuring
regular medical assessments and early detection of potential health issues.
