AMMAN — Spokesperson for the
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Muhannad Al-Khatib said on
Tuesday that children of Jordanian women married to foreigners cannot benefit
from university grants and loan programs because only a student with a national
number an be a beneficiary of the Student Fund, according to Ammon News.

Khatib said that the university admission
policy allocates a specific number of seats to students of Jordanian women
married to foreigners, and that competition over these seats is held before the
first semester each year.
He added that these students who passed
the recently held supplementary Tawjihi session for the first time but wish to
raise their GPA grades will have the chance to sit again and compete for the
seats universities allocate them during the summer session, provided that they are
in possession of an “identification card for children of Jordanian women”,
issued by the Civil Status and Passports Department.
