AMMAN — Adviser to the Prime Minister for Health
Affairs and the COVID-19 dossier
Adel Al-Balbisi said on Sunday that more than
99 percent of Jordan’s populated areas are served with healthy water,
transported through pipes, and therefore there is no fear of cholera spreading
via water.

“I do not think
that we should be concerned, but we must always be wary of this disease,” he
told Al-Mamlaka TV.
According to
him, cholera spreads in two main ways: through
water, which is the primary
cause for a wide spread, and through food. “Jordan is diligent on examining
water samples and maintaining water safety,” he said.
“There is emphasis on
taking daily and weekly bacterial and chemical samples to test, so I think that
cholera spreading through water will be very difficult,” added Balbisi,
underlining that so far there are no cholera cases in Jordan.
