The Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department, Ghaith Ghazi Al-Tayyeb, has announced the cancellation of the in-person requirement for issuing previously registered vital certificates—including marriage, divorce, birth, death, family record, and individual record certificates—at all department offices, effective May 1st.

In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday, Al-Tayyeb said a directive was issued to all department offices—both at the main headquarters and in the governorates—to stop accepting in-person requests for these certificates and to switch exclusively to electronic applications.
He explained that citizens can now obtain these certificates digitally through the "Sanad" app by accessing the Civil Status and Passports Department’s services, selecting the “Digital Certificates” option, choosing the type of certificate, the beneficiary’s name, and the preferred language of issuance (Arabic or English), then submitting the request and paying the fee electronically.
Al-Tayyeb added that the service allows Jordanian citizens to receive their certificates in PDF format directly via the "Sanad" app, where the documents can be viewed under the “My Requests” section. Each certificate includes a QR code to verify its authenticity.
Citizens can also apply for previously registered certificates through the department’s e-services portal at:

Certificates can be delivered via Jordan Post without the need to visit the department offices in person.
Al-Tayyeb emphasized that the Civil Status and Passports Department is moving forward with implementing the e-government program and the public sector modernization roadmap, in alignment with the outcomes of the Economic Modernization Vision and the Political Modernization System launched as the Kingdom enters its second centennial.
He noted that this step facilitates easier access to services, enabling citizens to obtain official documents anytime and quickly through modern digital systems. The department aims to fully digitize its services by the end of the year, which will significantly improve service quality.
Al-Tayyeb affirmed that the new procedure is intended to save citizens time and effort, enhance the department’s performance and efficiency, reduce crowding, and ease the pressure on Civil Status offices. He also confirmed the department's ongoing commitment to improving service delivery and simplifying processes for all citizens.
