Abu Naser reported a substantial increase in the clearance
volume of hybrid cars by 119.4 percent.
In 2022, 3,002 hybrid cars were imported, whereas this year,
the number has risen to 6,581, as reported by Al-Mamlaka TV.
Electric cars follow suit
In addition to the surge in hybrid car imports, electric
cars have also experienced a significant boost. The number of electric cars
imported has increased by 105.3 percent, rising from 5,265 vehicles in 2022 to
10,803 vehicles in 2023.
Abu Naser highlighted the notable changes occurring in the
local market's demand for cars. The latest figures indicate a 13 percent
decrease in the clearance volume of gasoline-powered cars and a 27.7 percent
decrease in the clearance volume of diesel cars.
Revival of car re-exports
Furthermore, Abu Naser stated that there has been a slight
increase in the re-export of cars, marking a growth of 10.9 percent.
He emphasized that the new law regulating the investment
environment has contributed to the revival of car re-exports, owing to the tax
exemptions granted to free zones.
