Mamdouh
Al-Qaraleh, chairman of Al Karak Chamber of Commerce, told Jordan News Agency
(Petra) that emptying the city of all government departments and relocating the
police and civil defense stations has left a huge security vacuum in the city.
He
said that raising taxes and licensing and permits fees and raising electricity
charges and social security contributions has served to add extra burdens on
the commercial sector, in addition to the impact the owners and tenants law has
had on trade activity which has witnessed a decline that has impacted on those
employed in the sector.
Al-Qaraleh
stressed the need to complete the public transport parking project “Al Birkeh
complex” that would allow buses from the villages in the governorate and the
Jordan Valley to enter the city in order to boost the local economy.
He
called on large companies and the universities in the governorate to purchase
what they need from the markets in the city in order to boost their business.
Al
Qaraleh called on authorities to organize road traffic in the city and for
banks to support the commercial sector by offering serious facilities, as well
as setting up economic councils to find employment for the youth and encourage
investments.
