AMMAN — The Jordan Food and Drug Administration(JFDA), the Ministry of Health, the Doctors’ Syndicate, and law enforcement
agencies have formed a committee to inspect clinics where plastic surgery
violations have been reported, according to Omar Al-Shobaki, president of the
Jordanian Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Shobaki urged the authorities to combat “violations by
fraudulent plastic surgeons”, stressing that laser operations and liposuction
treatments must be performed by qualified and licensed doctors, a local news
outlet reported.
“Failed plastic surgery results in divorces and the
destruction of families, all because of greed on the part of plastic surgeons,”
Shobaki said, noting that the society has detected “many cases of violations”
in recent months.
The society president expressed hopes that Minister of
Health Firas Al-Hawari will create a department to oversee plastic surgery.
Last year, JFDA Director-General, Nizar Muhaidat, set up a
technical committee to oversee laser, X-ray, and LASIK devices.اضافة اعلان
