He further stated that the government, represented by its
institutions, has not issued any decision to prohibit publishing on any topic.
Virtual crimes
At the seminar, Shboul also discusses the emerging legal
basis for dealing with virtual crimes and the challenges faced by
media outlets in the age of social media dominance.
Shboul highlighted the coexistence of two worlds in modern
times, the real and the virtual. He emphasized that this dual existence has led
to the emergence of a legal framework that treats virtual actions on an equal
footing with ordinary crimes.
He stressed the need for a comprehensive legal basis to
address
virtual crimes and ensure the safety and security of individuals in
both realms.
Challenges faced by media outlets
Acknowledging the global trend of social media platforms
dominating the advertising market, Shboul emphasized that media outlets
worldwide are grappling with this reality, and Jordan is no exception.
The increasing influence of social media, he said, poses
challenges to traditional media platforms, affecting their revenue streams and
overall sustainability.
Highlighting the role of the
Ministry of Government Communication, Shboul outlined their objectives through the draft general
policy for media and government communication.
The ministry, he said, aims to create a favorable
environment that elevates the status of media and enhances its tools.
