Amman – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship concluded the “Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2024” today, Sunday, during a ceremony aimed at fostering an innovative platform for youth to develop entrepreneurial ideas and prepare them to enter the world of entrepreneurship.اضافة اعلان

The hackathon focused on four key sectors: agricultural technology, education, renewable energy (green energy), and tourism, aiming to gather 400 innovative ideas to address 48 challenges.

The ministry had invited youth from across the country to participate, selecting the top 100 creative ideas to provide support and training in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Highlights from the Event
Samira Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, stated:

“Today, we celebrate the conclusion of the Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2024, a cornerstone project of the national entrepreneurship strategy. It embodies our shared vision to support creative ideas and empower youth to lead a bright future for our beloved homeland.”

She highlighted the success of the hackathon, noting that it laid the groundwork for over 100 innovative ideas in vital national priority sectors.

These ideas are poised to establish projects rooted in hope and innovation.
Al-Zoubi emphasized that the “Startups Go” platform would serve as a launchpad for these ideas, connecting them with investors and opening new opportunities. “We are committed to supporting these initiatives to become a foundation for a robust digital and economic future,” she said.

Jordan’s Entrepreneurial Journey
She reiterated Jordan’s position as a leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, recalling milestones such as the establishment of the Arab world’s first business incubator in 2001 under royal guidance.

Jordan has recently made notable progress:
Global Innovation Index 2023: Jordan climbed 7 ranks to reach 71st out of 132 countries.

National Entrepreneurship Observatory Report: Jordan advanced from 34th place in 2020 to 15th place in 2024.

“These achievements are not just numbers but a testament to our determination and vision to excel in all fields,” Al-Zoubi remarked.

EU Support for Jordan
Patrick Lambrat, Director of Cooperation at the EU Delegation in Jordan, expressed satisfaction with the first 100 entrepreneurial ideas selected for incubation.

He stressed the importance of digital economy in addressing economic challenges and fostering sustainable growth.

Lambrat reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Jordan, highlighting initiatives designed to help the country achieve its vision of becoming a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The ceremony also featured a video summarizing the Hackathon 2024 journey and a discussion titled: "From Ideas to Impact: How Hackathons Drive Economic Growth and Enhance Ecosystems."
