Amman - Jordan's Consumer Price Index (CPI), the key inflation gauge, rose 1.54 percent year-to-date through November, reaching 110.62 points compared to 108.95 points in the same period last year, according to official data released today.

The Department of Statistics' monthly report revealed that personal accessories led the inflationary trend with a 12.38 percent surge, while utilities (water and sewage) posted a 7.34 percent increase.
Professional association fees climbed 5.86 percent, followed by rental costs at 3.84 percent and tobacco products at 3.83 percent.
The November CPI reading stood at 111.04 points, marking a 1.35 percent year-over-year increase from 109.56 points in November 2023.
The monthly analysis showed personal accessories surging 20.23 percent annually, while utilities maintained their upward trajectory at 7.34 percent. Tobacco products recorded a 6.75 percent increase, and professional fees rose 5.86 percent.
Deflationary pressures were observed in several categories, with furniture and carpeting declining 3.52 percent, fruits and nuts dropping 3.51 percent, and clothing prices falling 2.46 percent. Energy costs showed a modest decrease of 2.12 percent.
On a month-over-month basis, the CPI edged up to 111.04 points in November from 110.61 in October. Key drivers included a 2.71 percent increase in vegetables and legumes, while oils and fats rose 2.63 percent. Transportation costs increased by 1.74 percent, and meat and poultry prices inched up 0.47 percent.
