Khudairi stressed that the contracting
sector’s allocation from the general budget is no more than “negligible
numbers” and would not even suffice to construct a private-sector mall.
The association head was speaking during a
visit of Minister of Public Works and Housing and Minister of Transport Ahmad
Maher Abul Samen to the contractors association, which saw the participation of
association council members, Director of the Government Tenders Directorate
Mahmoud Khleifat, Director of the Urban Development Corporation Jumana Atiyat,
Acting Secretary-Genera of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing Nadia Masalha,
and Secretary of the National Building Council Jamal Qutaishat.
Cooperation
and partnershipDuring the meeting, Abul Samen stressed the
need to enhance government cooperation with partners working in the private
sector, especially in the field of contracting, in a way that contributes to
the advancement of the sector and directly impacts the national economy and the
services provided to citizens.
The contracting sector, the minister said, is
one of the most important economic sectors contributing to the economy, as it
includes around 120–150 supporting
professions and provides many job
opportunities.
The association treasurer, Yassin Tarawneh,
noted the importance of promoting a real partnership between the association
and the ministry by forming a joint committee that will meet periodically to
support the sector and work on solving its problems.
