AMMAN — The
Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) called for taking the necessary measures against convenience stores and
supermarkets, which are not licensed to sell household gas cylinders, according
to Al-Mamlaka TV.

EMRC said that
selling gas cylinders in convenience stores and supermarkets violates the
articles of law, which allowed for licensing specialized agencies to sell
liquefied petroleum gas for household use.
A letter addressed
to the prime ministry, the minister of interior, and the mayor of the
Greater Amman Municipality said it based its opinion on an early July memorandum issued
by the Ministry Of Industry, Trade, and Supply.
The memo warned
against selling household gas cylinders in convenience stores and supermarkets,
saying it posed a danger to the lives of citizens.
