AMMAN — Several courts on Monday notified 129
suspects in various cases via Jordan’s most widespread newspapers to attend
their trials on charges of violating defense orders.

Otherwise, the courts
will implement Article 169 of the Code of Criminal Procedure that will allow courts
to judge those in absentia if they do not show up to proceedings on time. During
such cases, a judge may order a warrant for a defendant’s arrest, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Kingdom introduced
the defense laws in mid-March of last year, due to the outbreak of the new
coronavirus. The orders are still in force to this day and will remain until the
pandemic is over.
