Crimes in Jordan in past 5 years down 5.3%

AMMAN — Official Public Security Directorate data shows a 5.3 percent decrease in the number of crimes committed in Jordan during the past five years, specifically from the year 2017 to 2021, according to Al-Ghad News.

At the same time, crimes committed in Jordan during 2021 decreased by 14.9 percent compared to 2020.

Criminal offenses committed in the Kingdom decreased last year to 5,418, compared to 6,369 committed in 2020.

Theft topped the list of criminal offenses committed in 2021, with 2,827 crimes, a decrease from 2020, when 3,761 such crimes were recorded.

Indecent assault came second, with 904 cases recorded in 2021, an increase over 2020, when 822 such cases were recorded.

In third place came grievous bodily harm, with the Kingdom recording 657 such crimes during the past year, compared to 658 recorded in 2020. اضافة اعلان
