During the visit, Director General of the Jordanian-Syrian Joint Free Zone, Irfan Khasawneh, underscored the importance of the zone in boosting future investments and economic activity. He noted that coordination with the Jordan Customs Department is underway to ensure all legal frameworks and necessary procedures are in place for the facilitation of goods.
Last Wednesday, Minister of Industry and Trade Yarub Qudah announced that Jordanian exports to Syria are expected to resume this week, saying that preparations are ongoing to resume truck exports via the Jaber-Nassib border crossing and the Jordanian-Syrian Joint Free Zone, pending the readiness of the Syrian side.
The minister highlighted that the resumption will be limited to the export of goods through a truck-to-truck delivery system at the border. The reopening does not include passenger movement.
