In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Tuesday, Abu Aqoula explained that the truck traffic through the Jaber crossing—whether departing or arriving, loaded or empty—has increased fourfold since the beginning of the year compared to the same period last year, supported by facilities and measures taken by Jordan in this regard.

He emphasized that the freight and goods transportation movement, especially vehicles to Syria from the Gulf countries or through the Port of Aqaba via Jordan, is experiencing significant activity. This has positively impacted the trucking fleet in the Kingdom as well as other supporting economic sectors.

He also noted that the number of trucks—both Jordanian and foreign—that have entered or exited, either empty, loaded, or in transit through the Jaber crossing since the beginning of the year has reached 49,679, compared to 12,689 trucks in the same period last year.

Abu Aqoula praised the efforts of the customs and security authorities at the Jaber Customs Center, noting their professionalism and efficiency in handling the passing trucks and ensuring swift processing of their transactions. He also mentioned the significant coordination between the syndicate and the customs authorities to address any issues that might arise.

He further explained that the decision to exempt Syrian trucks from fees and charges, as well as the application of the principle of reciprocal treatment, is starting to have a positive impact on the trucking fleet and transit trade, which will contribute to boosting trade and transportation between the two countries and with other nations.

The Cabinet had previously decided to exempt Syrian trucks from the fees and charges imposed on them, implementing the unified fee system for Jordanian and Syrian trucks and applying the principle of reciprocity between the two countries.
