AMMAN — The judicial body that deals with
corruption cases at the Amman Court of First Instance found a government
employee working for the Customs Department guilty of bribery and sentenced him
to three years in jail, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

The verdict, which can be appealed, was issued in a
public session. It came after it was proved that the convict had asked for a
bribe from one of the cleaning companies operating at the department, and was
caught while taking the bribe.
Jordan Integrity and
Anti-Corruption Commission caught the man, who works with the customs police,
red-handed, taking bribe in return for turning a blind eye to the company’s
lack of commitment to the agreement reached with the department.
