The center’s head Bassam Al-Maharma said
that the center successfully foiled the attacks on government websites.
A number of government IT networks were
exposed to phishing attacks this year, which in rare cases led to the
disruption of some services.
In June, the center launched a campaign to
create an integrated framework for raising awareness on cybersecurity issues
among individuals and institutions.
The campaign has focused on various aspects
of information security, offering security advice and educating users on how to
identify suspicious behaviors that can indicate hacking attempts.
The Kingdom is vigilant in combatting
cybersecurity threats, ranking first by far among Arab countries for monitoring
internet user accounts, with an average of 19.05 cases of monitoring per
100,000 users, according the cybersecurity website ServShark.
Far behind in second place for the region
is Kuwait, with 3.89 cases per 100,000 users.
The government monitors accounts by
requesting user data from companies including Apple, Google, and Facebook.
A cybersecurity expert previously told Jordan
News that this monitoring activity aims to combat cybercrimes and corruption.
