AMMAN — The Egyptian Chamber of Diving and Water
Sports (CDWS) warned of oil patches observed in the
Red Sea, in the town of
Dahab, Al-Rai daily reported, saying that it received videos and photos of
Egypt’s Dahab region that show contamination in several areas of the Red Sea
region off Egyptian shores.

A communiqué
that has been received by the CDWS mentioned that oil patches were observed in
different locations on the coast of Dahab, with oil spills believed to
originate from the
Aqaba port area following an oil spill from a ship into Red
Sea waters two days ago.
The communiqué noted
that the
Ministry of Environment is working with local authorities in Dahab to
control and clean up oil patches.
