Mahasneh said on Friday that all the dams in the
southern part of the country are dry due to poor rainfall, unlike those in the
north, which have not dried up, except for the Wadi Shuaib dam.
That is one of the small dams, with a capacity that
does not exceed 1.7 million cubic meters and which dries up at the end of
September each year.
Dams in the south,
Al-Mujib, Al-Wala, and Al-Tanour,
are dry due to weak rainfall in the past winter season, she added.
Mahasneh said that an agreement was signed with a
local consulting company to conduct feasibility studies for constructing new
dams in the north and south, and to rehabilitate irrigation networks that were
built 40 years ago, in order to reduce water wastage.
