AMMAN — Defense Order 35 of 2021, which includes
new procedures to deal with developments in the epidemiological situation, will
go into effect on Saturday, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

Based on the defense order, all public and
private sector employees will not be allowed to work unless they have received
two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The days they are unable to work due to
being unvaccinated will be deducted from their annual leave days. If their
annual leave is exhausted, the days they are absent will be considered as leave
without pay. Also, they will not be entitled to any salary or bonuses during
this period.
No one over the age of 18 will be allowed to
enter any of the ministries, government departments, official institutions,
public institutions, or private sector facilities unless they have received two
doses of the vaccine, except for those who visit hospitals and health centers
in emergency cases.
Employees or workers that allow any person over
the age of 18 to enter public sector institutions, except for hospitals and
health centers in emergency cases, without receiving both doses of the vaccine,
will be subjected to disciplinary penalties stipulated in the civil service
system.
Private-sector facilities that allow an employee
in the facility to work without being vaccinated will be closed for a week for
the first time violation and for two weeks if they repeat the violation. The
closed facility will be reopened if the violation is corrected.
Penalties for private sector
facilities that allows entry to any person over the age of 18 that is
unvaccinated, except for hospitals and health centers in emergency cases, are
as follows:
1. Malls, shopping centers, banking sector facilities, telecommunications companies and their exhibitions, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, hotels, offices of electricity distribution companies, water companies, nightclubs, bars, discotheques, Turkish and oriental baths, sports clubs, fitness centers, and swimming pools will face a fine of JD1,000 for the first violation, JD3,000 for the second violation, and JD5,000 for the third violation, and a one-week closure in the event of a repeat violation after that.
2. Other establishments not mentioned in paragraph (1) will face a fine of JD100 for the first violation and JD200, for the second violation and JD300 for the third violation, and a one-week closure in the event of a repeat violation after that.
The defense orders provisions are regarding receiving two
doses of the vaccine and do not apply to people who did not receive the two
doses for medical reasons. According to a decision by the Minister of Health
these people must bring a negative PCR test that is valid for 72 hours, and to
show it upon entering any of the public sector establishments or the private
sector establishments referred to in this defense order.
