AMMAN — An informed government source said that the
defense orders issued under the Defense Law will be subject to review in
mid-December, without specifying whether they will be kept in place or
suspended, according to Al-Rai daily.
The source said
that the cancellation of defense orders issued under the Defense Law is
conditional on the official end of the pandemic, stressing that once WHO
announces the end of the pandemic, there will be no justification for applying
the Defense Law.
He added that
the Defense Law was activated to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, declared
so by WHO, adding that as long as the organization does not officially declare
that it has ended, the pandemic still exists.
He said that
most of the defense orders issued during the pandemic were canceled, and that
the defense orders related to the imprisonment of debtors and the termination
of workers’ services remain in force.
Moreover, the source
said that there is no intention to extend the Estidama program, which expired
in October, since the grant allocated to the program was terminated.
