AMMAN— Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Krishan said that democratic culture and the rule of law are the cornerstones for the society’s development, to enable citizens to participate effectively based on the principle of the rule of law, respect for diversity, and acceptance of opinion and other opinion through the concerted efforts of all institutions, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

During the closing ceremony of the "Enabling Environment for the Promotion of Democratic Freedoms and the Rule of Law" project, which was implemented by the Jordanian Masarat Foundation for Development in cooperation with the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation, today, Friday, with the participation of political and partisan activities and law experts, Krishan pointed out that the Jordanian state, since its establishment, has worked to build A legislative process that contributes to the development of political and democratic life.
He added that Jordan is currently witnessing an unprecedented legislative development, combined with the political will of His Majesty King Abdullah, pointing to the need to direct efforts towards promoting a democratic culture by implementing the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System related to the empowerment of women and youth.
He also noted that the government has committed to implementing these recommendations through an executive plan aimed at transforming these recommendations into work programs for the concerned ministries so that they are accomplished and implemented according to performance indicators and a specific timetable, in coordination and follow-up by the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs with all relevant ministries and institutions.
