His Majesty the King gave the order in 2021 to build a glass planetarium in order to cover the mosque's inner courtyard after snow accumulation damaged the outer porch canopy. This expanded the area designated for worshipers and provided protection from various weather conditions.

Prince Hashem listened to a briefing about the project given by Engineer Nima Qatnani, the Greater Amman Municipality's Executive Director of Engineering. The project includes covering the mosque's inner courtyard with a 50-ton glass roof, Islamic geometric decoration, glass sides with movable openings for ventilation, and equipment to provide both protection and safety as well as a beautiful appearance that maintains the mosque's historical identity.

From its first Hashemite reconstruction in 1923, when it was built on the ruins of the old Al-Omari Mosque, to its second and third Hashemite reconstructions in 1952 and 1987, during the reign of the late King Al-Hussein bin Talal, the Grand Husseini Mosque has undergone constant restoration and reconstruction.

The process of rebuilding the mosque has continued since His Majesty King Abdullah II ascended the throne. In 2019, the King issued an order to prepare a new pulpit and mihrab, decorate the mosque's wooden facades, and cover its columns with hand-cut mosaics in the aftermath of a fire.

Yousef Al-Issawi, Royal Court Chief, Muhammad Al-Khalayleh, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic affairs, Yousef Al-Shawarba, Mayor of Amman, and Abdullah Al-Aqeel, Secretary-General of the Awqaf ministry attended the mosque's inauguration.
