An inaugural flight, which took off from Washington International Airport, landed at Queen Alia International Airport on Friday, Petra said, quoting the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).

The agency said that the flights will bolster the tourism sector through an envisaged rise in the number of American travelers to Jordan.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Fayez said United Airlines, the world’s third largest airline firm, will operate three weekly Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flights, each with a capacity of 243 passengers, to Jordan. Fayez said the schedule will be maintained throughout 2022.

US Ambassador to Jordan Henry T. Wooster lauded the longstanding relations between Amman and Washington, according to Petra. He was quoted as saying the flights will “bring the two countries closer,” by further facilitating tourism and improving trade and educational ties.
