Amman – The Director of Public Security, Major General Obaidallah Maaytah, visited the new headquarters of the Cybercrime Unit in the Muqabalin area on Monday.

Major General Maaytah emphasized that the opening of the new Cybercrime Unit building is part of the broader modernization and development system that the Public Security Directorate has been advancing in recent years.

During his meeting with Cybercrime Unit personnel, the Director of Public Security conveyed the pride and appreciation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for the security, humanitarian, and social efforts undertaken by the Public Security Directorate's members across its various units around the clock.
He highlighted the vital and active role of the Cybercrime Unit in addressing diverse cybercrimes under the rule of law, particularly amid rapidly advancing technological developments.
These advancements bring with them a range of digital tools and applications that have created new types of cybercrimes, requiring a high level of security vigilance to ensure the safety and security of citizens in cyberspace.
Major General Maaytah stressed the importance of continuing the fight against cybercrimes by maintaining a high level of responsiveness to cyber incidents. He emphasized employing professional technical and technological frameworks to provide the best services to society while respecting the privacy of individual cases.
He also underlined the need for precise handling of various cases received by the Cybercrime Unit, whether involving individuals or institutions, to ensure community safety.

During the visit, Major General Maaytah listened to a briefing from the Head of the Cybercrime Unit, which included key complaints and cases handled by the unit, related statistical data, and details of the electronic procedures implemented.
