It said Doghmi was
awarded in recognition of his pioneering role in the development of
parliamentary action, his contributions to the promotion of solidarity and
joint Arab action, and his outstanding national role, according to a statement
by President of the Arab Parliament Adel Al-Asoomi.
Asoomi made the
statement during a session held in Cairo to appoint a new president for the
parliament.
In a response
speech, Doghmi said that the award “is merely a recognition for Jordan and its
leadership, represented by His Majesty King Abdullah”.
He highlighted
King Abdullah’s support for Jordanians, which encourages them to win medals and
recognition in Arab and international forums.
This tribute is “a great
honor”, Doghmi said, increasing the responsibility that he and members of the
parliament must shoulder.
