Doghmi pledges to address farmers' demands

Amman — On Tuesday, Lower House Speaker Abdul Karim Doghmi pledged to address demands to enhance the agricultural sector and said he would reach out to the government to solve outstanding issues, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

He told owners of unlicensed agricultural water wells, who staged sit-in protests outside the parliament building, that the agricultural sector is of priority to His Majesty the King and uplifting its goal to achieve food security and raise the gross domestic product.

“It is of prime importance today to bolster strategies to enhance the agricultural sector,” he told the farmers.

He also noted in the past, Jordan was a wheat producer known for its quality product exported to other countries, adding that it is necessary to come up with thorough plans to address all challenges that led to the farming sector’s decline.
